About the Oregon Coast Sailing Company

Named for the mythical bird that saved Sinbad from certain death in the Tales of the Arabian Nights, you'll feel comfortable on board "Rukh", with her wide, stable hull and deep, full-length keel that's built for the ocean.  She boasts a cozy cabin with eight berths and a galley with stove and salon.  She's all wood save a fiberglass hull and her 54-foot wood mast gleams sporting nine coats of varnish.  We will soon be a completely sustainable, alternative energy-run business as we begin converting to bio-diesel, installing solar panels and composting toilet.  Powered mostly by the wind, one of our goals is to have the least possible environmental impact on the Earth.

 

Another of our biggest goals is to provide the ultimate in stress relief for everyone who comes aboard.  You'll experience the magic of wind and water as we glide silently along, your cares slipping away.  And you'll feel in good hands as we set sail with our ship's Captain Robert Carman who has held a 100-ton masters license with the U.S. Coast Guard for almost 25 years and has delivered sailboats from New Zealand to Kodiak. He is one of the most experienced sailboat Masters on the Pacific Coast with sea stories of all kinds to inspire.
